The Goal

The King Island Imperial is more than a race. It is a community tradition that brings locals and visitors together every year. The website needed to honour that legacy while making race information easier to find for runners, walkers and volunteers.
The aim was to build a site that captures the excitement of the event, celebrates its history and gives participants everything they need in one simple online hub.

Our Approach

We focused on clarity, storytelling and accessibility. The structure was rebuilt so visitors can find race categories, schedules, registration details and volunteer information without clicking in circles. Strong visuals and warm copy help share the spirit of the event and showcase the unique nature of the 32 km route across the island.

This was a mobile first project because most users look up details while travelling. The site needed to work just as well on a phone as it does on a desktop.

Key Features

1. Clear race information
Easy access to race categories, schedules, travel details and FAQs.

2. Simple online registration
A more intuitive registration flow that helps participants sign up with confidence.

3. Community focus
Dedicated space for volunteer roles, sponsor information and local involvement.

4. Strong story telling
Imagery and content that reflect the history and energy of the Imperial 20.

5. Mobile friendly design
Fast, responsive and built for people on the go.

The Result

The new King Island Imperial website feels modern, engaging and true to the event’s long history. It celebrates the locals who make the race possible and helps visitors understand why the Imperial 20 is such a special part of King Island culture.
